Featuring Mama: Maggie Slavonic, Founder of Mom Snacks

At The Mindset Tapestry, our Featuring Mama series honors women who are not only raising the next generation but reimagining what it means to care for mothers in a world that often forgets them. This week, we’re spotlighting Maggie Slavonic, a mom of two, a certified Functional Nutritional Therapist, Emmy Award–winning creative director, and founder of Mom Snacks—the first functional snack brand designed to nourish moms through every messy, magical phase of “mom-ing.”

Maggie’s journey is deeply personal. After surviving a near-death birth experience and feeling the weight of postnatal depletion, she found herself asking a powerful question: What if there was a snack brand built for moms first? What started as a mission to fill a nutritional gap has become a movement to rewrite the script on maternal care, one science-backed snack at a time.

What does Mother’s Day mean to you? Are there specific feelings or emotions that come with this day?

“Mother’s Day is complicated for me. Ha. I genuinely love the handmade cards, the extra hugs, the feeling of being seen and celebrated. That part fills me up. But what I also deeply crave on this day is space…space to not be ‘on’, to be relieved of duties, and recharge without feeling guilty about it.
Last year, I spent the day at a spa with a few mom friends. It was something I truly needed…but I missed my family the entire time! I was trying to enjoy my moment to myself, while also feeling pulled back emotionally. That tension of wanting both presence and absence, connection and solitude — is so real!
I think a lot of moms live in that in-between. We want to be appreciated AND left alone. We want a break AND we want to be near the people we love. It’s all a mindf*ck. And maybe the best gift is being allowed to hold all of that, without an apology.”*

Tell us what you’re building with Mom Snacks. How does it connect to your experience as a mom?

“Mom Snacks was born from a deeply personal place…in the aftermath of a traumatic birth that nearly cost me my life. Coming out of that experience, I left feeling completely depleted. Depleted physically, emotionally and nutritionally and shocked by how little support there was for moms once the baby arrived.
As a Functional Nutritional Therapist, I started digging into the science behind what I was feeling, and the data matched the lived experience: Moms are chronically undernourished and overlooked. And not just in the early postpartum days, but in the years that follow. Through burnout, brain fog, perimenopause — all of it.
So I decided to build what I couldn’t find.
Mom Snacks is the first functional snack brand designed to nourish moms through EVERY phase of motherhood. Convenient, nutrient-dense snacks that fit our unique nutritional needs.
This isn’t some perfect, pastel, beautiful mommy brand. This is real talk. A little irreverent, a little funny, and built with the kind of honesty moms give each other. Moms don’t need another “aspirational” brand — we need one that actually gets us.
Mom Snacks isn’t just a company. It’s a mission. I’m building what I wish existed back then and what I STILL need now.”

How does your mindset shape both your parenting and your leadership as a founder?

“My mindset is definitely still a work in progress — in both motherhood and building a company. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t a fixed state, it comes and goes, especially if I get too far inside my own head or start comparing myself to others. The trick for me is finding ways to get out of my head… whether that’s blasting a hype song, screaming into a pillow, or taking a walk outside.
At the end of the day, I LOVE problem solving. I love the puzzle of figuring out how to make something work. I’m scrappy, resourceful, and fueled by a deep belief in what I’m building — whether that’s raising two little humans or launching a brand that’s changing how moms are supported.
I try to meet the chaos (because there’s always chaos!) with curiosity instead of panic. What’s the opportunity here? What’s the workaround? That mindset, staying open and nimble, has helped me build resilience even on the hard days. And it helps that I’m incredibly persistent…and stubborn as hell :).”

The Mindset Tapestry is all about legacy. What’s your greatest hope for the next generation, and how does Mom Snacks play a role in that?

“My hope for future generations is that they grow up seeing caregiving as powerful, not invisible. That they witness moms being supported, prioritized, and nourished, instead of expected to constantly pour from an empty cup.
With Mom Snacks, I’m trying to help shift that narrative because I’ve lived the cost of what happens when moms are overlooked. When we support moms, it has a ripple effect. Healthier moms raise healthier families. More supported moms model boundaries, self-worth, and emotional resilience.
This brand isn’t just about snacks, it’s about representation. Mom needs matter. If Mom Snacks can help fuel moms so they feel strong, seen, and a little more human in the chaos of it all, then we’re doing our part to build a better future.”

Final Thoughts

Maggie Slavonic is building more than a snack brand — she’s building a movement. One rooted in truth-telling, nourishment, and real care for the mothers holding it all together. Her work is a reminder that when we support moms, we don’t just ease their load — we change what’s possible for families, communities, and the generations that follow.

With Mom Snacks, Maggie is showing us that strength can look like humor, that nourishment can come in small (but mighty) bites, and that mothers deserve to be seen not just as caretakers — but as whole, vital humans. Thank you, Maggie, for being the kind of founder who leads with heart and keeps it real. We’re so grateful you’re part of this tapestry.
